The collaboration’s first build is the Colorado Environmental Data Hub — a documented, reproducible home for the public environmental data Colorado relies on, as federal and state sources are quietly removed or locked behind paywalls. The goal: make every source independently verifiable, and eventually map which reporters cite which datasets.

Working with CEJ director Hong Tien Vu, the lab’s undergraduate researchers catalog each source, flag how at-risk it is, then “liberate” the priority ones into clean, auto-refreshing tables archived with a citable DOI.

Delivered so far: a catalog of 56 authoritative sources across six themes, and a working reservoir-storage pipeline tracking 130-plus Colorado reservoirs day by day. Streamflow and snowpack pipelines are next.
