Visiting Researchers bring professional experience into the lab and carry new data capacity back out. These are one-semester or full-year appointments for mid-career practitioners — working journalists, lawyers, policy researchers, civic technologists, and nonprofit leaders — who want dedicated time to pursue a data-intensive project or deepen their technical skills.

The call is broad: whatever your beat, sector, or method, if your work serves the public interest, you’re welcome. Appointments come with workspace and university access — libraries, computing, and data resources — plus collaboration with our student teams and faculty.

You’ll leave with a concrete project, new methods, and a standing connection to the lab’s network, including the help desk and our environmental journalism partnership. Stipend and support details are to be confirmed.
