For funders

Fund durable impact.

Turn philanthropy into visible, lasting public-interest impact — named positions, sponsored infrastructure, and seed-funded collaborations.

Philanthropic support builds capacity that outlasts any single grant. Funders can endow named research positions — the graduate, visiting, and undergraduate appointments described under Join the lab — or sponsor data-archiving infrastructure that keeps at-risk public datasets accessible to journalists and civic groups statewide.

Seed gifts also position the lab for competitive external funding: the 2026 de Castro Research Award launched our Center for Environmental Journalism collaboration on exactly that model. We work with CU Advancement to align philanthropic priorities with public-interest outcomes. Review our research and resources, then reach out or email brian.keegan@colorado.edu.
