Undergraduate Researchers

Competitive, mentored positions for undergraduates who want real data skills, a portfolio, and work that helps the public.

Undergraduate Researchers are where the pipeline begins — competitive, mentored positions for CU undergraduates who want to learn real data science skills while contributing to work that helps Colorado’s newsrooms, nonprofits, and communities.

You don’t need to be a computer scientist, or to have any prior experience. We welcome students from every major and background; curiosity, care, and a willingness to learn matter more than any particular résumé. You’ll be mentored by graduate researchers and faculty, build a portfolio of public-facing projects, and find a pathway toward graduate study and professional practice.

Expect hands-on training in finding, cleaning, analyzing, and visualizing public data — the same skills our resources and help desk put to work every day. Compensation details are to be confirmed.

Curious? Introduce yourself or email brian.keegan@colorado.edu.
